Colt Police Positive .38 Revolver Ex Royal Hong Kong Police

Overall very good condition

Mechanically very good, bore is bight with sharp rifling, no rust/chip I could see,  lock up very tight

Exterior retains around 90% of bluing with small patches of blue thinning and light pitting just above grip plate

Original wooden grip at little worn, with silver Colt medallions intact,  

Also complete with lanyard ring

This Colt PP was issued to Royal Hong Kong Police as standard carry gun in 1960s to 1970s. RHKP rack number marked on back strap. 

It was supplied to RHKP in .38SW caliber, and was one of a small batch (around 200) of Colt PPs converted to .38 Special caliber in the late 1970s by the police armoury , in an attempt to persuade the hierarchy not to change to .38spl Smith Wesson Model 10 revolvers (probably because the force armourers were so used to service and repair Colts).  The conversions were successful but RHKP still went ahead with the Smith Wesson purchase, because the conversion cost was nearly as much as purchasing new M10s, and it would tie up the force armoury for years.  The converted Colts had "S" suffix added to RHKP marking for "special", to distinguish them from .38SW revolvers used by the rest of the force, and a "C" suffix added to its rack number, denoting "converted".
